Rebrand... 02/03/2012
Some time ago I've posted on my blog saying I was undergoing a "Slight re-branding". This time, I'm getting ready to undergo a full on re-brand.. Not much to say about it, just be expecting it. 1 Comment The title pretty much explains it all. People have been wondering how come I haven't posted a song since Aphelion earlier this year. Truth is, I've been starting many projects which I end up not finishing. So pretty much I've created a mess of unfinished project files that's over-saturating, like an office that is cluttered with unfinished paperwork overfilling the file cabinets and scattered all over the floor and desk. I'm quite over my head right as to what exactly I'm going to do, whether being finishing some of the projects or just wiping the slate clean and starting over again. The projects span many genres, including Hard Trance, Dubstep, Drum'n'Bass, Orchestral, Complextro, etc. Sorry for a dry year in uploads, hopefully I all of this sorted out this week. -DJ Earthlight Just thought I'd post an update on how things are going. As you can see in the title, my DnB composing is starting to gain momentum as my mind is coming out with many ideas on different songs. I've got some new plugin expansions FULL of excellent sounds and tool kits, which is really an inspiration. The tracks I'm creating have the same nature as Aphelion, if not, a little bit more "retro gaming" to it. After a few months, Perihelion is finally in the works. That actually makes me happy given that I've made three previous attempts at getting the song going, all of which I was unhappy with. Once Perihelion is uploaded, I may also share samples of the other attempts. I think this style of music is really going to become my new niche, thus being my new dominant genre (sorry, Trance fans). As for Dubstep, things are more slow going. I've made enough samples to supply me in a bomb shelter for the next 30 years, but as far as stringing them together to make a song, I'm just not quite there yet. All I can say is that I'm trying to make a track that I feel is suitable to be released. Not sure how long that will take, but until then I'll just keep my progress on a low profile. Perihelion should be finished within the next week or two, depending on how much time I work on it. Until next time, enjoy my recent Pokemon remake releases! Though I haven't posted on this site in a while, and although I haven't posted songs on my YouTube channel in a while either, that doesn't mean I haven't been tremendously busy with my music. Since my last post, I've canceled all the projects except a couple, including Aphelion (which was completed and released shortly after). I've become interested in the genres Dubstep and Drum & Bass, and have spent the past few weeks building my sound library in preparation for composing. As of now, I'm satisfied with it and I'm now creating my first Dubstep song as I type this. It's almost done and I hope to have up soon. You can consider this a minor reboot. For those who stay up to date with my YouTube channel, you know I've also started a new project involving recreations of Pokemon music that's running parallel to my normal music releases. Sorry that I'm running late on releasing the second song, but as I stated above, I've been busy on sound designing and practicing tying everything together. I should have the next song released between the time I finish and release my new Dubstep track. As far as Trance fans go, don't worry, I'm not quitting the genre. As a matter of fact, I have a build-up of a new Trance project made. The song is a remake of Green Flash, but not the same remake that was in my "Current Projects" video. Since then, I have augmented my Trance sound and restarted the rework. I'll work on finishing and releasing it after the releases of my next Pokemon song and my Dubstep track. Well I believe I've taken enough time off from making music, and it's time I start getting back in gear in finishing projects. I've started a few more songs since my "Current Projects" video, and I've also scrapped a couple songs to restart when all the other projects are out of the way. Here's a list of all the projects and they're completion status, I'll get into detail on these songs in future posts: "Current Projects": Sawtooth Dentist (Remix) - 75% Complete [Finishing & Mastering] Green Flash (2011 Remake) - 40% Complete [Writing & Composing] Spellbound (Remix) - 0% Complete [Scrapped & Restart] Untitled Track 1 - 25% Complete [Writing & Composing] Gargoyle (Remix) - 0% Complete [Scrapped & Restart] Oniro (Formerly Untitled Track 2) - 80% Complete [Finishing & Mastering] Other Projects: Mriya - 45% Complete [Writing & Composing] Love You To The End (Remix) - 5% Complete [Writing & Composing] Aphelion - 99% Complete [Review & Critique] Out of all the songs listed, I plan on finishing Aphelion first (though it may be the last song I release). Aphelion is also my favorite project out of all of them, I truly believe this is another of what I call "Spike Songs" (Songs that originate from sudden inspiration of ideas, normally from long music inactivity [example being Thumper]). In my opinion this song surpasses Thumper, I started this last night at 2:00AM and worked on it until 5:00AM (I took advantage of the fresh ideas, normally a full night sleep would obstruct my ideas and visions of a song). I'm experimenting with many different synthesizers and making synths, and I absolutely love how the main lead turned out. The sound effects are fantastic, the percussion is full, clean, and slightly dirty at the same time. The bass line is suttle yet noticeable. I have a lot of sounds going on at once, and I've EQ'd them perfectly with one another. I wish I can churn out songs like these all the time, but that's why I call them "Spike Songs", they're sudden and powerful ideas. I'll save the best for last when it comes to releasing. Today it's a beautiful afternoon. The skies are rich blue highlighted with white streaks of cirrus clouds; the sunlight is bright and warm, while the breeze is crisp and cool; the mountains are rich green from the winter storms; the water of the lake is crystal clear, reflecting the sky; the birds are chirping in the trees, the planes are flying by, and the kids are playing outside their homes. Today is a lovely fair 60 degree day in the beautiful city of Lake Elsinore. While my family prepares for a spring cleaning on this fair day, I prepare to use this day to...... make a 16-bit SHMUP game. Yes, I have no clue where the idea came from, most likely from playing Battle Garegga and many other arcade games during the winter. I plan on making a Flash-based game all on my own. Right now I'm working on the planning of the game, seeing how it's going to look and function. I'm starting on the concept art of the aircraft, and trying to figure out how to make 16-bit graphics. Also, I'm working on the background music (yes, it's still early, but I'm a music composer). I'll post updates on here when I hit certain points in developing the game, just as soon as I learn how to use Flash. Cheers! -DJ Earthlight Brief Break 02/22/2011
After two straight months of creating music, my mind is exhausted and needs a bit of a break. I have songs ready to upload in the meantime, so I have a chance to catch my breath for a couple weeks. I'll continue to stay posted on my website and accounts, but the music production will stop for now. When I start again, I'll be sure to finish all the remixes for the other artists. It's a new year, and I believe it's time for some changes. Don't worry, Trance is still my main genre. This post is for my Hardstyle side. I've been playing music for 9 years, and have begun composing 2 1/2 years ago. For about 4 months I've been giving a go at Hardstyle music, and I personally enjoy it. I'm at a point where I feel like putting my own twist on this genre. I've done it with Trance and all other genres I've tried, now I want to see what I can do with Hardstyle. My goal is to bend and twist this genre to all shapes and sizes, without breaking it (meaning inadvertently turning it into another genre). I'm going to start working on a new song, which I hope to release by the end of the month (the beginning of next month the latest). |
